Core Courses
This year-long course is designed to enhance students' reading, writing, and communication skills. Students will read and analyze a variety of age-appropriate texts, including fictional works, narrative nonfiction, biographies, poetry, and short stories from different genres. The course emphasizes vocabulary development through contextual application and helps students refine their writing skills by practicing creative, descriptive, and persuasive writing. Students will also learn the steps of developing a research paper and apply these skills to produce a well-structured, well-researched paper. Throughout the course, students will explore the written word through a spiritual lens, evaluating and understanding the messages encountered in literature and daily life.

The course emphasizes abstract thinking and problem-solving strategies, using diagrams, equations, and algebraic expressions to tackle various math challenges. In preparation for Algebra I, students will also practice algebraic thinking and learn to apply geometric concepts to algebraic problems. The course includes engaging multimedia video lessons, notes pages, practice problems, and assessments, with transcripts and closed captioning in both English and Spanish.
